How to Find a Sponsor in Australia
This video above highlights some top tips on how to find an employer to sponsor your visa to Australia
How do I find a company to sponsor me?
If you cannot get invites through General Skilled Migration, then finding a company to sponsor your visa may be your only chance of gaining a pathway to PR. The process to find a sponsor may differ depending on your occupation or whether you are onshore or offshore. Below are tips that may find you a sponsor.
1. Work for a company and demonstrate that you are worth them paying the fee for sponsorship. It costs an employer thousands of dollars to sponsor someone, so they want to know that you are worth it. If you can get to Australia on a Working Holiday Visa (WHV) or Student Visa, this could allow you to demonstrate to the company that you would be an asset.
2. Labour Agreements. Labour agreements are agreements between an employer and immigration to make it easier for them to sponsor applicants.
3. Through job search websites. These include Seek, Indeed, LinkedIn, & Jora etc. But please note, you should not waste your time contacting companies that will not sponsor you. Most employers aren’t open to sponsoring, so be specific in your search.
4. Right qualifications and experience. Before you approach a recruiter or employer, definitely ensure you have the right qualifications and experience to work in the role in Australia.
5. Intra – Company Transfer. This means finding work within a company in your home country that has offices within Australia. You then demonstrate you are a competent and capable employee at the company, and then get transferred over to Australia.
Please note that the above information is general in nature and you should contact a migration agent to find out more about your specific circumstances.
