You will only move onto the bridging visa once your current visa expires. For example, if you hold a working holiday visa that hasn’t expired and apply for a student visa, you will remain on the working holiday visa until it expires. You’ll then automatically transition onto the bridging visa and you’ll remain on the bridging visa until immigration has made a decision on your application. Once the student visa is granted you will automatically have the visa conditions and work rights of your student visa
