It takes 12 months to complete the Certificate IV in Outdoor and Recreation. To qualify as an open water instructor, you will need to complete an open water, advanced, and rescue diver course. Then once completing a dive master course you can do you open water instructor course. You need a minimum of 100 logged dives. You need to pass a medical and have a current first aid certificate. There is not a specific amount of time that this takes as it is dependent on each individual person.
