Can a new business sponsor?
Yes, technically it can. However, immigration will probably need to provide additional documentation to show the company is operating lawfully and looking to expand in its field. Some documents could include:
- Business plan/s
- Recently won contracts
- Expense Receipts
- Bank Statement
- Lease Agreements
- Evidence of new employee hiring
- Bas Statements etc…
Does the business need to have a specific number of employees to become a standard business sponsor?
There are some specific caveats for certain occupations like accountants, so always check with a migration agent before. However, usually, there is not a specific number of employees that a standard business sponsor needs to have. We have processed SBS application for tradesmen who perhaps are the only person in the business, or who have one other person involved in the business.
Please note, if there are very minimal employees, you will need to demonstrate to immi the strong commitment to employing local labour.
Is there are specific turnover a company needs to have?
Once again, there are some specific caveats for certain occupations like accountants, so always check with a migration agent before. However, there is no specific turnover a company needs to have. However, immigration needs to believe you can cover all costs of obligations, employment etc.. So if the company only has a really low turnover (such as a new company), then you will need to provide evidence of finances to support the company or new contract won etc…
What are the costs for the company?
- Standard Business Sponsorship Charge – $420
- Nomination Charge – $330
- Training Levy – $1200 per year for companies with a turnover under $10 million and $1800 per year for a company with a turnover above $10 million.
